[There are moments where Ren's stupid, impulsive actions seem to pay off in spades, somehow able to turn a harrowing defeat into an irritatingly effortless victory. It's just another one of dozens of things that Akechi has envied about this particular boy, that he so rarely thinks with his head and still somehow manages to come out on top.
However, this is not one of those times.
Akechi can feel the other boy going for the pretty laces at his neck, but it's only a second before the disaster that it clicks in his head just what Ren is attempting to do.]

[Instead of unlacing the ties that go halfway up Akechi's elegant neck, Ren gets his teeth on the complicated knot and tugs just hard enough to tighten said laces, strangling the boy on his lap with his own clothing. Akechi makes an incredibly unsexy sputtering gasp before his palm is connecting with Ren's face and roughly shoving him back into the mattress. He's on his feet within seconds, turning away just long enough that he can conceal his undignified choking and blink a few tears from his eyes.
But then he turns back to Ren and glowers at the boy laid out on his mattress.]
Could you be a bigger dumbass? [Affectionate and derogatory.] It's like you can't help but self-sabotage yourself at every turn.
[But instead of racing out the door like any normal person might, Akechi straightens up in front of Ren instead, cheeks just slightly flushed as he uses his teeth to peel his own leather gloves off and drop them at his feet. From there, he undoes the elaborate lacing of his vest, slim, dexterous fingers making quick work of what Ren failed, before it's joining the gloves on the floor.]
If you're going to make me choke, I at least deserve a warning.
[Akechi steps forward towards the bed, the neckline of the shirt beneath his vest plunging just enough to show off peeks of the scars against his torso. Not just the surgical lines beneath his pecs denoting his transition, but the ugly scar left behind by the bullet that took his life. It's impossible to miss, discolored against the rest of his pale skin, with a matching twin on Akechi's back from where the bullet exploded out of his back.]
